This privacy policy explains how Scottish Energy Efficiency, trading as Energy Independence Scotland, collects, uses and protects your personal data when you use this website or request a free survey and quote. We are committed to being transparent about how we handle your information and to keeping it safe.
Who we are
Energy Independence Scotland is a service operated by Scottish Energy Efficiency, based at Unit 3 Prospect III, Prospect Business Centre, Dundee DD2 1TY. We arrange free surveys and quotes for solar panels, home battery storage and smart tariffs for homeowners in Scotland. The installation itself is carried out by our MCS-certified partner.

- Any additional message you choose to provide
- The page on our website from which you submitted the enquiry
We do not collect sensitive personal data such as health information, racial or ethnic origin, or political opinions. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18.

We only process your personal data on the basis of the consent you give when submitting the enquiry form, and to take steps at your request before entering into a contract for energy efficiency services.
Who we share your data with
We share your personal data with our MCS-certified installation partner for the purpose of arranging and carrying out your free survey and, if you decide to proceed, the installation. We may also share your data with service providers we use to process enquiries (for example, the service that receives form submissions on our behalf), who act on our instructions and are bound by confidentiality obligations.
We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We will only disclose your data where required to do so by law.
How long we keep your data
We keep your personal data for as long as is necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected, including responding to your enquiry and arranging your survey and quote. If you do not proceed with an installation, we will retain your data for a reasonable period to allow us to respond to any follow-up questions, and thereafter delete it. If you do proceed, we will retain records relating to the work for as long as is necessary for warranty and regulatory purposes.
